Donations from our show will support the Lebanese people.

All funds raised for the performances will be donated to purchase tickets for ‘Beirut, No Show Tonight’, a performance by the Theater Relief Group in Lebanon that will not happen. It cannot happen. The city is closed until further notice.

The Theater Relief Group in Lebanon is an artist-to-artist initiative led by 100+ independent theater practitioners in Lebanon who have come together in a state of emergency after the explosion. Their aim is to offer immediate support to the theater community and practitioners working in Lebanon that have been directly affected by the catastrophic explosion. This will provide relief for damages in the form of physical wounds, damages to homes, to support families in need, and for other forms of relief. One of our theater performers, May Adra, is a Lebanese and Beirut-based artist, as well as a current member of the Theater Relief Group in Lebanon.

On August 4, 2020, there was a devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. 2,700 tonnes of confiscated ammonium nitrate were being stored in a warehouse at the port for six years. This tragic event caused the loss of hundreds of lives, thousands injured, and displaced many others. There is a great need for medical, food, housing, and economic relief to support those affected. The Lebanese people were already suffering severely due to the corruption of the Lebanese government (extending back to the 1975-1991 Civil War) and the total collapse of the Lebanese economy. This triggered the October 17 Revolution against oppression, in the hopes for a change in the political status quo. The COVID-19 pandemic only exacerbated these existing conditions. The Lebanese people are currently living through hyperinflation, intense poverty, unemployment, even more electricity and internet cuts, famine, a pandemic, and the effects of the evitable August 4 Explosion.
